Just a quick FYI/heads up -- I'm not going to be blogging for a bit.
My grandma passed away quite suddenly over the weekend, and I'm just not feeling up to trying to write anything funny/interesting. I'm using all of my energy to try to stay positive for Baby-Bean's sake, and to be honest, I've got nothing left for anything else.
I will try to get back into this next week, but I just wanted to let everyone know so that you don't assume that I've gone into labour when you see that I haven't posted.

The proof is in the pudding-feet.
I decided to provide photographic evidence that I'm not lying about the state of my feet/ankles/legs. I'm not being a drama-queen or whiny brat...they're seriously disgusting.
Feast your eyes on these bad boys (taken moments ago while propping my feet up on a chair at work...yes I'm that classy...and yes I had to quickly scramble to slip my feet back into my stink-shoes immediately after taking the picture because I heard someone walking around the corner).

I have no shame. :)

Yabadabadoo!
Ugh...the ugly part of pregnancy has finally hit (and beat to all of you who just rolled your eyes and commented on how I've been a sea-hag this whole pregnancy...wait till you see what I'm like now!).
My feet have all but dissappeared under my cankles. I'm disgusting. I put my shoes on in the morning to go to work (when I'm feeling responsible and decide not to wear my flip flops to the office), and the strap looks like...well, this:

I've become some sort of puffy hybrid of Fred Flinstone and the Stay Puff Marshmallow Man. I'm a train wreck.
And I'm grouchy.
Getting in and out of chairs has become a hassle. I've decided that someone should invent a preggo-sized shoe horn to assist women in late pregnancy to hoist themselves into and out of chairs...and bed for that matter. Getting in or out of anything is now accompanied by grunts (and other sounds that we won't talk about...because "I'm a LADY!").
People now giggle at me when they see me coming down the hall at work. Apparently the waddle is officially out of control. I'm seriously not trying to look like a tool...I'm just trying to get to the damn washroom people -- no need to giggle then give me the "poor you" look. I'm fine. But as I said, I'm grouchy...so don't mess.
My mom says I'm in the "fruit and nut bar" stage of pregnancy. That's the stage when hubby comes home, opens the door a crack, throws a chocolate bar in, waits to hear that preggo-wife has started to devour the chocolate, THEN (and only then) makes his way into the house. My dad was a smart man. Prof-Man actually left me a chocolate bar the other day (must be instinct or something)...so that when I got home from work at 9pm (after getting to work at 6:30am!), I had something to sooth the beast before he got back home. Smart Prof-Man (or maybe my dad called to warn him!?).
On the bright side, I just got 2 dozen red roses delivered to work from my dad! Just about made me have a huge hormonal sob! I called to thank him and he said that it seemed like a better idea than a basket of fruit and nut bars! Smart and funny! :) Good thing I still have my sense of humour...for the most part...
I'll try to be more upbeat next post...but for now I've got to get back to the insane amount of work that they've got me doing to "get the most out of me before mat leave". The joys of being a lawyer.
Insert sarcastic eye roll here.

Last Picture Post: The Finished Product!
Okay, here it is in all its glory (the blanket on the chair is a homemade quilt from Auntie Cari -- so beautiful)! :)

This one shows the shelf I was talking about earlier today...love that it looks so perfect in the room (again...aren't I just SO artsy!?). Hee hee...okay, I had very little to do with how good this shelf looks (it was really all Uncle Glen's handywork)...but I was pretty proud of my painting idea...and it looks pretty good (I think).

The quilt, hung on the wall with pretty daisies on the rod...and a "Boppy" nusing pillow that I got from one of my friends as a shower gift (it matches the room perfectly!).

This shows a closer view of the "mobile" that we're using (a ceiling sculpture of hot pink and lime green daisies that looks like it was MADE for the room!). We've got a music/sound machine to take care of the other task that a normal mobile would do.

Just the last angle that I hadn't yet covered...nothing more to say!

So that's the room! :) The pictures really don't do it justice...the colours are much nicer in person. You'll have to come by some time to check it out for yourself! :)

Picture Post #4: Baby-Bean's Room "Almost There"
Ugh, this is getting tedious (computer is VERY slow at uploading the pictures)...
Here's Baby-Bean's room when it was mostly done (just missing a few finishing touches)...this first one shows her beautiful crib and bedding...and also my artistic handywork (read: slathering paint and/or stickers onto a few canvasses and hanging them in a line on the wall). Still...I think it looks pretty good (this is me tooting my own horn)!

Not a great shot because the sun was shining in and I'm not a skillful photographer...but it looked pretty in person!

Dogs are enjoying the sun...like I've said before, this is/was their tanning room! They seem to have adjusted now that the room is fully decorated (I guess they realize it's not quite their style!).

LOVE the monkey and frog (Mr. Frog is wearing the gorgeous leather ladybug bib that my mom bought...one of her MANY purchases!). :)

This just shows the matching hot pink baskets we got to hold diapers, socks, etc.). They fit perfectly in the dresser/change table. The colour is actually better in person.

The craziness that is Baby-Bean's closet...all of the bins of sorted clothing, a bunch of toys, diapers, etc.). If you're wondering...yes, there are a few ladybug-related items in there...(1) a ladybug bathtub toy scoop thing, and (2) a ladybug Halloween costume for when she's 2 years old (they didn't have any sizes available for next year).

Picture Post #3: Baby-Bean's Room "During"
This just shows the room while we were working on it...the wall is painted, but the old carpet and blinds are still there...and there isn't any adorable baby stuff around...yet!

This one shows the bedding and how nice it looks with the paint...

...and this last one was Baby-Bean's room mid-laundry escapades (when I was sorting through the bagillion items of clothing that Cari gave us for Baby-Bean)...I really only took it because it looks like the dogs did all the work and have fallen down from exhaustion (which was what I felt like doing)! :)

Pictures...post #1 of MANY!
This may take awhile...I've pulled the pictures off of the camera, and am dumping them onto the blog as I see fit. I'll try to do so in some order, but I make no promises...it was a VERY long day at work today, and I'm exhausted.
Before I start with the pictures that everyone's been asking about, I'm going to post some Christmas pictures of my "fur-babies" opening their presents (because I think they're hilarious and/or adorable, and I've gone through the trouble of pulling pictures off the camera so I need to share them!).
Here's Malcolm and Jackie all gussied up for Christmas.

Malcolm is asking Prof-Man for his gifts...

Jackie opening her gifts...

...and Malcolm...

Okay okay, I'll stop with the random dog pictures now (though I have a TON more...and they've very cute...just imagine how annoying I'll be when Baby-Bean gets here!). :) Next post will be Baby-Bean's room "Before".

Bad Blogger
Okay okay, I'm a bad blogger. Sorry.
I've been...shall we say...distracted!? :) Only 3 weeks left of work (with every week being a shortened week due to the necessity of using up vacation days before I take mat leave)...only 4 weeks left until Baby-Bean's "guess date" (a more appropriate term than "due date"...I mean, how often do babies actually decide to arrive on their due date!?)...life's been busy!
Quick updates on things that I've neglected to blog about. Last Saturday (as in October 2), the girls hosted a baby shower for me! It was so much fun! So many cute decorations (in both hot pink AND ladybugs -- yay!)...(this is the ladybug that they used for a bunch of the decorations and game cards!)...

...so much delicious food (Greek -- one of my absolute favorites...do you think my friends know me well!?)...such great company...such fun games (really -- I normally am not a fan of cheesy shower games, but these ones were actually quite fun!)...and such generous gifts! I was totally overwhelmed! Baby-Bean is almost totally set now (the list of "things we still have to buy" is getting shorter and shorter -- which is a good thing because so are the days left in the countdown!).
This weekend we got the last of Baby-Bean's furniture (gorgeous white leather glider/recliner) and her stroller and basinette/rocker. Her room is looking gorgeous (if I do say so myself!). We are using a shelf that my "Uncle" Glen made for my parents several years ago. I painted it white and then added some hot pink and lime green paint to the carved daisies on the supports...it looks like the shelf was made for the room! I've got plenty of pictures (before, during and after)...but I haven't pulled them off the camera yet (will try to get to that tonight).
Yesterday we went for our maternity photography session. I decided to go ahead and get pictures done for a couple of reasons: (1) I haven't been diligent at all with taking progress pictures of the bump, and (2) I've seen the finished products that our photographer puts out -- and her work is gorgeous! We got a package that includes both maternity and newborn pictures. My favorite work of hers is the newborn pictures...but we figured that it was a good idea to capture the maternity shots as well.
Here's a link to our sneak preview (there are tons more shots taken, some more dramatic etc...but these are the ones that she posted). We get access to the remaining shots once she's done with them in a couple of weeks.
If you end up looking through the rest of the shots on her blog, please don't comment on how amazing and dramatic the shots are of the lady that got her maternity pics done the same day as me! I just saw them this morning, and they totally took the wind out of my sails! I mean, they're not our style...but they're absolutely freakin' gorgeous and dramatic...and so much fancier and more interesting than my/our maternity shots. Oh well...I loved ours last night, so I'll get over it! :)
