What to do...
I had grand plans to do a nice blog post while Kennedy was snoozing, but as I was pulling the pictures off the camera, she woke up. She's now staring at me...so the question is: should I continue with a post and hope that she drifts back to sleep (she's due for a much longer nap than she's had so far) or should I forget about it and go get her up? Decisions decisions.

Got the camera
Kennedy FINALLY fell asleep for her nap (man that girl could win a gold medal for her ability to fight naptime...she makes her momma a little crazy)! I managed to grab the camera though, so here are the pictures I was meaning to post.
(1) Kennedy on her 6 month birthday!

(2) Kennedy and her Babka (had some trouble getting her to smile for a picture here...she had just woken up and was a little overwhelmed). Not to worry though, she gave her Babka plenty of toothy grins (just none that we caught on camera)!

I also noticed (after the pictures had been taken) that her headband is pressing down on her ears in a very unflattering way...oops!
(3) These last couple were taken while we were watching the Canucks game on Sunday evening (though this must have been a TV time out, because none of us are staring at the TV!).

We're all looking very classy in our Sunday "PJs all day" look! No jerseys for game-watching on this particular evening...

Some random tidbits

Not much new to report (and again, the camera is trapped with a sleeping baby so I can only give you pictures from the camera off-load that I did the other day)...
Kennedy was officially 6 months old on Sunday (we celebrated with another Canucks win -- this time over the San Jose Sharks in Game 1 of Round 3 -- Western Conference Finals Baby!). Crazy how quickly half a year has gone by...too quickly! I've got a picture, but I'll have to post it another day.
Kennedy got to meet her Babka (Prof-Man's Baba) and Gr'Auntie Shan. She got lots of new and absolutely adorable clothes...can't wait to try them all on her! She also got two new quilts: (1) an awesome Canucks quilt from Shan, and (2) a quilt (that we haven't seen yet, but can't wait to see!) that her Babka made (well, actually, each of Babka, Baba and Auntie Cari had a hand in making it)...this will be a family heirloom (I'll post pics soon).
Here's the Canucks quilt!

I also forgot that I had taken before and after pics of my haircut...yup, I finally bit the bullet and got the obligatory post-baby mommy haircut! I think mommies get these cuts because (a) they need to get out of the house and do something for themselves (ahh...awesome scalp massage!), (b) their hair is falling out in clumps from the post-pregnancy hormonal imbalance, and (c) whatever hair isn't falling out is being pulled out by baby hands. So, I too decided that a haircut was in order. I actually wanted to go shorter, but my hairdresser got nervous (I guess she was worried that I wouldn't want the upkeep of a shorter cut...she knows me too well)...so this is the result. Next time I'm going shorter.

(PS - I know I look like crap, but wearing makeup is just not on the agenda these days...the fact that I am clean and showered should be impressive enough!)
Kennedy tried Butternut Squash for the first time today. She was willing to eat it, but was seriously underwhelmed. I'm going to try to get a picture or video next time, because the face she makes is priceless. Not sure if it's the texture or taste, but she was pretty grossed out by the whole thing. Didn't stop her from opening her mouth for the spoon though, so that's good!
Anyhoo...not much more to write about...I'll leave you with a few black and white pictures! :)

It's not my fault...really!
Blogger has been down. Okay, maybe not all day yesterday, but it was down for almost 24 hours on Thursday when I was trying to post. But I can make it up to you...I have pictures...lots of 'em!
She's already a total girly-girl! Started smiling, giggling and playing with the tutu the moment I put it on her!

First pictures with her Uncle James...aww...love!

This was just Kennedy and I hanging out after we got home from a family shopping trip on Prof-Man and my 6-year anniversary (crazy that it's already been 6 years!).

Catching a quick rest on after Easter brunch at my parents' place. Here she is almost asleep in her Grandpa's arms (I can't remember if this is before or after her total meltdown...she was a little overwhelmed and sleep-deprived by the end of the visit at Grannie and Grandpa's for Easter morning).

We had Easter dinner (and Canucks game-watching) at Prof-Man's parents' place. Here is Kennedy with her Easter present from Baba and Gido. This is "Walter"; his mouth lights up because he eats the stars at night (and that's whyt the stars are gone when you wake up in the morning...kind of a creepy story if you ask me...but Walter is a hit!). She's a big fan of the horn on Walter's nose. Perfect for chewing.

I'm pretty sure this picture is in bad taste...but I don't care! It's freakin' hilarious! Kennedy no longer stays still during changes, and decided she wanted to help her dad grade papers in this picture...in nuthin' but her socks!

Such a happy baby (mid-knee-bounce in this one)!

Loving this wide open mouth "smile"...such a cutie!

Here's Kennedy enjoying her first rice cereal meal (Sunday, May 1).

Jackie and Kennedy (ugh, I can't believe we ended up with names that match...so cheesy...and definitely NOT planned that way) are so in love!

This is just because I think there is nothing cuter than Kennedy's little bum in jeans!

Speaking of a cute little bum...here are some naked shots...she LOVES being nude!

Photographic evidence of Jackie's need to share toys. Gross...but apparently not gross enough for me to pull the toy out of Kennedy's mouth before snapping a picture! ;)

Hanging out in her "circle of neglect"...she's usually much happier...I'm only including this picture to mention that she's really getting into the toys on this now. She has figured out how to move the beads etc. and is really developing her fine motor skills...it's so fun to watch her playing in this!

Playing with her feet (and proving that she is fully aware of just how cute she is...she just lights up for the camera)!

Kennedy "reading" another book (or just hamming it up for the camera)! :)

Kennedy outgrew another size of diapers (sniff sniff)...had to take a picture, because I just can't get over how cute these diapers are!

Here's Jackie sneaking a nap on the nursing pillow!

"C'mon mom...don't bother me while I'm reading!"

"Seriously...I'm really into this book!"

"Bah ha ha...okay, you caught me...I wasn't really reading...the book was upside down!"

Having a little play while practicing her sitting technique.

Whoops!

And lastly...here are a few of her in her newest headband...so cute! It wasn't even planned this way (well...the picture was...but the creation of the headband itself wasn't), but look how well it matches the outfit that she got from her Great Auntie Wendy and Great Uncle Bob for Easter!

She was pretty excited to be wearing such a cute ensemble!

It's been too long!
I'm not sure why I haven't gotten around to updating lately...there has been a ton of stuff to write about!?
I should warn you that the camera is in Kennedy's room; where she's sound asleep. So there won't be any pictures in this post...I have a TON to share...but that will have to wait. Sorry! I have only one picture (that was already on this computer because I had uploaded it to facebook!)...this is Kennedy before Game 7 of the Vancouver Canucks vs. Chicago Blackhawks series (for my own future reference, this was Round 1 -- we're now going into Round 3 BABY -- woo hoo!).

Isn't she just the cutest thing!? I know, I know...I'm her mom. But seriously!? Last night, we were at the pub to watch the Canucks game (which they won -- beating the Nashville Predators in 6...again, that's for my own future reference!)...and a couple commented on how adorable her tiny little jersey was (she was, of course, decked out in her Canucks gear!)...and the woman said "Not all babies are cute, but yours is absolutely gorgeous!". Insert picture of me beaming proudly! I limited my response to "thanks" (not, "I know, isn't she!?"...must try to be humble!). ;)
Updates...
(1) Kennedy is a rolling machine! I think she's only a few weeks away from crawling (or some iteration thereof)...she gets her little feet under her and gets most of her body in the air...she just needs to get that coordinated with her upper body, and she'll be on her way! It's crazy how quickly things are changing now. One day she was rolling the odd time...but only from back to front (as she ha somehow forgotten to roll from front to back) and the next, she was rolling all over the place! She rarely lays still anymore!
(2) She's also sitting fairly well. Not perfect, of course...there are tumbles (but she doesn't seem to mind falling, so that's good!)...but today she managed to sit for a good 5 minutes or so without falling! I even managed to get a video of it (though of course, she fell at the end of the clip...whoops!). I'll upload that ASAP. The only time she really falls is when she's focussed on chewing her hands or when she does her little head bob trick (more on that later).
(3) Kennedy got to meet her Uncle James. He's back from the Philippines, and has been able to visit her a few times. They definitely hit it off right away! James taught her a head bob/shake thing that she now does a TON. She likes to make people laugh or smile, and that seems to get a good reaction, so it's her new "go to" move! I'll have to get it on video one of these days...trouble is that while she's a total ham for the camera, she is oddly shy around the video camera...it's weird. Hopefully she gets used to it soon!
(4) Had my first Mothers' Day. Got a full night's sleep (yay!), then up and off to swimming lessons (where Kennedy successfully did her first water immersion...twice!). After swimming, we gave Kennedy a quick bath to get the chlorine off (turns out I was wrong about the pool being ozonated...it's full of stinky chlorine...oh well!). Then I was a cooking machine! We had my parents and James and his girlfriend Danielle over for brunch. I made banana sticky buns (with and without raisins), strawberry and pineapple fruit salad, chile dusted home fries and eggs benedict (with ham, sauteed mushrooms, spinach and tomatoes). A very tasty breakfast (if I do say so myself)...but not exactly a relaxing start to my very first Mothers' Day!? This was my mom's last Mothers' Day before my parents move to California though, so it was something that I wanted to do. Next year, I'm sleeping in! :) Prof Man had hockey in the afternoon, so Kennedy and I had a nice afternoon nap (right before she fell asleep, she rolled onto her side, looked at me a smiled...it was like she knew it was Mothers' Day...it was the most perfect moment!).
(5) Still only two teeth, but they're really starting to show now! So cute!
(6) Kennedy has started on solids. Just rice cereal right now. I was going to move on to a vegetable, but she has her 6-month photo session in a couple of days, so I don't want to take any chances that she's get a rash or something as a reaction to a new food.
I'm sure there's a ton more, but I can't think of anything right now. I'll update more soon...next time with pictures (and hopefully some video).
